Christmas vandalism in The Villages

To the Editor:

With all the pain and sadness in the world this year we decided to brighten the holidays with some new outdoor lights on our bush and railing.  Many have lost loved ones this year and will be unable to celebrate with them. Many are without jobs.  Many are in despair.
For several nights our little display beamed just a bit of hope on our street. They weren’t flashing. They weren’t excessive. And on Friday night someone crept into our yard, onto our porch, and cut the wires in two places on our little bit of Christmas.
To whomever you are, shame on you. But know without a doubt that you did NOT ruin Christmas.
For Christmas is way more than a string of lights. It’s about the Babe, born in a stable, who came to save the world from hate.
Merry Christmas.
