Two women were arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon at the Circle K service station on Buenos Aires Boulevard in The Villages.
A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy spotted a silver Mitsubishi at 5:45 p.m. parked at the service station. The deputy discovered the vehicle had a tag that was assigned to a Nissan pickup truck. The deputy approached the vehicle and discovered that a passenger, 39-year-old Jeannie Manning of Ocklawaha, was wanted on a Marion County warrant. She was placed in the back of a patrol car.
Shortly thereafter, the vehicle’s driver, 28-year-old Kristi Marie Riley of Belleview, returned to the vehicle. She admitted she did not have a valid driver’s license and said she was driving because she needed to do some Christmas shopping. She said she had just acquired the vehicle and it was not yet registered. A check revealed her license had been revoked for two years. She is also on felony probation in Marion County on a charge of carjacking.
A check of the vehicle turned up 22 pills which were determined to be acetaminophen/ hydrocodone, according to the arrest report.
Both women were booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
