Ellen Michele (Desroches) Guertin, loving wife, mother, and aunt was called Home Dec.16th while being held by her husband Paul Guertin.  Ellen was born April 7,1947 in Springfield, MA. to Albert and Olive Desroches.  Ellen was predeceased by her only sister, Donna.  Besides her husband Paul she leaves their son Michael Guertin and his wife Angelica who had become the daughter she never had.  She will also be missed by an uncle and cousins,Paul’s two brothers and sister, several nieces and nephews, and all who have come to know and love her.  Ellen was educated in Catholic schools from kindergarten through receiving a Bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in education from College of Our Lady of the Elms, and worshiped at St. Timothy Catholic Church.  She taught 5th and 6th grades before leaving teaching to raise Michael.  Later she took up a career in retail management, which she loved.  She was very active with the Fairfield Mall Merchant’s Association and also volunteered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  She and Paul retired to The Villages in August 2003.  She enjoyed playing Bingo, Disney, and vacationing on Amelia Island. In her final years she made many friends at New Covenant United Methodist Church’s respite care and in her final months received much loving care from N.C.U.M.C. ‘s Helen’s Helpers, St. Timothy Church Respite Care, and Cornerstone Hospice which allowed her to be home with her loving husband Paul.
