Robert J. Saunders

Robert J. Saunders, 90, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Summerfield, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2017. Robert was a longtime central Florida resident, coming to Florida from the St. Paul MN area. In Minnesota, he took great pride in the raising and training of Arabian horses. He was a skilled and creative ceramic tile setter in varied construction trades. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He participated in the Philippine Liberation and was awarded the Victory Medal for his service.
Robert is survived by his son Patrick and Patrick’s fiancé Linda. He was predeceased by a son, Dennis. He has two brothers: Jerry and his wife Marilyn of Forest Lake MN and Kenneth and his wife Marge of Myrtle Beach NC. Robert leaves four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A visitation and celebration of Robert’s life will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 9 a.m., followed by burial at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
