A 47-year-old man from Rhode Island was transported by ambulance to Leesburg Regional Medical Center after his arrest early Thursday morning near Spanish Springs.

Keith Tullson had been driving a vehicle with an inoperable headlight, prompting a traffic stop at Alonzo Avenue and Main Street, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Tullson appeared to be confused about where he lived and fumbled through items when asked for his driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. It appeared his registration had expired Nov. 30. Tullson admitted he had had a “bit to drink,” according to the arrest report.

He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .175 and .175 blood alcohol content.

He then told police he needed to go to the hospital and complained of abdominal pain. He was transported by Lake EMS to the hospital in Leesburg.

After he was medically cleared, he was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was booked on a charge of driving under the influence.
