Rita Tanner, 65, went to the store at La Plaza Grande, concealed three bottles of perfume in her purse and attempted to walk out without paying for the items, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The perfume had a total value of $81.

She was released with a Notice to Appear in Lake County Court on a charge of retail theft.

Tanner had entered a plea of no contest on May 30 in Sumter County in connection with the theft of earrings in March from a jewelry store in Brownwood Paddock Square. In June, she won early termination of her six-month probation sentence.

Tanner had been arrested in 2012 on charges of petit theft and resisting a merchant. She was able to avoid prosecution in that case when she entered into pre-trial diversion program.
