Gates and artificially low speed limits

To the Editor:

I find it interesting that many residents complain about our gates here in The Villages!  Perhaps these folks are in a hurry?  One reason might be the artificially low speed limit (35mph) on both Buena Vista Boulevard and Morse Boulevard (south of Route 466).  Both of these roads are divided and have limited access.  In most communities these roads would have speed limits of 45 mph, perhaps a little faster.  Here, we are required to drive slowly in order to accommodate LSVs (I presume). I seldom see an LSV on these roads, and when I do, they are traveling another 10 mph below the posted speed limit further slowing artificially slow traffic to begin with.  Perhaps if the speed limit on these roads was raised to where it should be (45 mph), more Villagers would obey the speed limit AND there would be fewer complaints about having to occasionally slow down at the gates. Comments?
