‘Give A Hoot 3’ to bring folk music to stage in fund-raiser for Tutors For Kids

It started with a couple of small “hootenannies” last year.
Now, though, The Villages Pop Chorus folk music series is growing in popularity. Seems there are a lot of what might be described as a lot of old folkies here who never lost their passion for music or helping others.
“Give A Hoot 3,” will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at North Lake Presbyterian Church. Nearly 750 tickets have already been sold and it’s close to a sellout, said Bill Davis, head of the Chorus.

A folk music Hootenanny by members of The Villages Pop Chorus will be held Feb 20 in the North Lake Presbyterian Church.

“Something’s going on because people here want to hear this music,” Davis has said. “That’s why we’re going to do more of these folk music shows.” Proceeds benefit Tutors For Kids.
Now for the third concert in the series, Davis says “many of our songs are well known, but a couple are not as well known.”
This hootenanny sing-a-long will feature such familiar folk tunes as “This Land Is Your Land,” and “Where Have All The Flowers Gone.”
The most popular song, Davis said, is the New Christy Minstrels version of “Today.”
But the lesser known numbers include: “We’ll Sing In the Sunshine,” “Bring Me A Rose,” and Peter, Paul and Mary’s “The Very Last Day.”
