It’s not about the Second Amendment

To the Editor:

Every time there is a school shooting, (the one in Florida was #18 this year), all gun owners start thinking about their 2nd Amendment rights.  This is not about the Second Amendment. It has to do with a weapon, still being manufactured and sold as of this writing, that has the ability, when controlled by some person, to cause a rapid discharge of hot lead and penetrate even a 2 X 4 wood beam to reach its destination and rip open the flesh and bones of what was, moments prior, a living, carefree individual.
People say there needs to be a “study”, so to speak of these disturbed people. Or put them on a “no buy” list.
Neither of these topics would do any good.  The disturbed people will just go “underground”, so to speak, and not mention their evil thoughts. And if they can’t purchase this rifle in a gun shop, they will find other means to get one. The only way to get this country on the right track, to start solving this problem, is to stop the manufacture and sales of the AR-15 and similar weapons of war. Keep your guns, the Second Amendment will still be in our Constitution when we are all gone. How about a silent prayer for all persons shot and killed by this weapon, since the days of Columbine High School?
