Lake-Sumter State College ranks third overall Best in State

Lake-Sumter State College has ranked third best in a recent ranking of the 28 Florida College System colleges by Schools.com.

“Lake-Sumter State College is known for providing quality learning experiences at affordable rates,” said Dr. Stanley Sidor, president of LSSC. “This ranking validates the dedication to our students that our faculty and staff exhibit on a daily basis.”

Schools.com notes that the Florida College System has garnered national attention for its efforts to develop a well-trained and educated workforce in Florida. Each college in the Florida College System was evaluated based on publicly available data including affordability, graduation rates, transfer rates, and student-faculty ratio.

In their introduction to the rankings, Schools.com writes, “The fruits of Florida’s labors are nothing short of remarkable. According to College Measures, Florida community colleges report one of the highest combined graduation and transfer rates in the United States, and their first-year retention rate is not far behind.”

LSSC ranks behind Valencia College (Orlando) and Eastern Florida State College (Cocoa).

Students interested in learning more about the programs that LSSC has to offer are encouraged to attend a Lakehawk Preview Day next month. Visit lssc.edu to learn more.
