Villages Hospital Auxiliary Foundation bringing back Live at 5 speaker series

The Villages Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation is bringing back its Live at 5 program.

The event proved so successful in its first year that the foundation decided to hold the dinner and discussion series for a second season.

Phyllis Baum, right, of Central Florida Health, and Beth Jernigan, of The Villages Regional Hospital, conduct a session on end-of-life care.

Live at 5 was instituted to bring people together for a conversation with industry leaders in health care, wealth management and retirement. This year’s program will feature new speakers and a repeat of a couple of the particularly popular programs from last year.

The program kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 11 with two speakers, Dr. Allen Rumble, investment adviser with Insight Credit Union; and Michael Pittman, vice president, chief clinical officer and site administrator for The Villages Regional Hospital. Rumble’s topic is Financial Freedom: A Simple Plan, while Pittman will discuss Chest Pain Accreditation protocols.

Dr. Romil Patel, of Lake Medical Imaging, speaks to a past Live at 5 group.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Lynn Cofer-Chase with Quest Diagnostics will discuss Knowing your Risk for Heart and Stroke, while Andre Nacaxe with Sabal Trust Company will discuss Life Planning – 8,000 Days at a Time.

The Tuesday, Oct. 30 program is titled The Conversation Project: How can I be ready to discuss what matters most to me for end-of-life care? This discussion will be led by Phyllis Baum, vice president and chief quality officer for Central Florida Health, and Beth Jernigan, cancer center program administrator at The Villages Regional Hospital. This is one of the programs that is being repeated from last year because of the positive response it received.

Tricia Holloway, of Buffalo Crossings Assisted Living in The Villages, speaks during a past Live at 5 gathering.

Closing out the Live at 5 fall season on Nov. 13 will be Les Roth, retirement specialist with The Villages Insurance. His program is titled The Myths of Long Term Care, and he’ll be joined by a representative from Trinity Springs who will talk about having faith in your next step.

All Live at 5 events are free. Seating is limited and reservations are required. For more information or to make reservations, call the Foundation office at (352) 751-8871. Live at 5 events begin at 5 p.m. and are held at The Villages Regional Hospital’s East Campus.
