Leesburg woman’s purse goes missing at Wal-Mart in Summerfield

A Leesburg woman called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Monday after realizing she’d lost her purse at the Summerfield Wal-Mart.

The woman told the deputy she was loading groceries into her car and when she was finished, she pushed the cart into the return corral near her vehicle and left the store. She said she drove about a mile away to pick up her husband at a nearby doctor’s office and then realized her purse was missing.

The woman said she returned to the store, located at 17961 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, and searched the area in the parking lot for the purse. She said she also spoke with the store’s management but they didn’t have it, the report says.

The woman said the orange purse, valued at $10, contained her turquoise-and-orange-colored wallet, cash, a $200 cell phone, her driver’s license, credit cards and a gift card.
