A man already on felony probation was arrested after a traffic stop at Murphy Express.
A red Cadillac De Ville had been pulled over shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday at the service station on County Road 466 in Oxford, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined that the driver had been operating the vehicle with a “business purposes only” driver’s license. A woman climbed behind the wheel, but when she began to drive away, she failed to make a proper stop and the Cadillac was pulled over again. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.
A front seat passenger, Quashown Dale Bostic, 21, of Lady Lake, was asked to step out of the car and was asked if he would consent to a search.
“You can search me and the car all you want because there ain’t nothing,” Bostic said to the deputy, according to the report.
The deputy found a bag with about 1 gram of marijuana in Bostic’s pocket.
“It is just a dime bag,” Bostic protested.
A check revealed Bostic is on felony probation for a previous drug conviction.
He was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
