Lady Lake man arrested after hitting golf ball that shattered window

Tyler Reid Martin

A Lady Lake man was arrested after hitting a golf ball that shattered a window.

Lady Lake police were called at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday to The Cove Apartments on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, where a woman said she had been sitting in a chair in her second-floor apartment when the glass of a window was suddenly shattered.

An officer found 29-year-old Tyler Martin, who admitted he had been hitting golf balls from his yard at 736 Citrus Lane. He said that he heard “a loud noise” but thought his ball struck a fence.

A check revealed Martin was wanted on a Sumter County warrant charging him with failure to appear on a charge of having no motor vehicle registration. He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail.
