Second look shows year-rounders are really getting shafted on golf rates

To the Editor:

As a follow up to the earlier letter regarding 2019 summer golf rates in the Villages, it should be noted how extreme this increase is for year-round residents.
In 2018, a 1 p.m. tee time for 18 holes at Evans Prairie, for example, cost $24. For 2019, it will be $34, a 41.6 percent increase!
Tierra del Sol at 1 p.m. increases from $22 to $30, a 36 percent increase.
With the current annual inflation rate running between 1.5 to 2.5 percent, this is beyond simple greed. It seems more like incompetence  coupled with extreme greed.
I hope the residents just leave the courses empty all summer.
Unfortunately, those who live here year-round and love playing golf all summer just end up losing out on another of the benefits The Villages was supposed to offer as part of the “lifestyle.”
Greed and incompetence.  Nothing further needs be said.
