A Daily Sun newspaper box was stolen from a postal station in The Villages.

A Villages Daily Sun employee said he had gone to stock the newspaper vending machine at 3:30 a.m. April 11 at the Rio Grande Postal Station, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When he arrived at the postal station, he discovered the newspaper box had vanished.

The employee told police that he had last collected money from the box on April 8 and it could not have contained more than $15 at the time it was stolen.

The officer checked the area and there did not appear to be any drag marks on the concrete or the landscaping. The incident report noted that there are no surveillance cameras at the postal station. Nothing else in the area appeared to be damaged.

The Daily Sun employee told police the cost of replacing the newspaper box would be $1,000.
