Attorney for bikini-clad DUI suspect disputes account of what occurred on night of arrest

Carrie Head

An attorney for a bikini-clad drunk driving suspect is disputing an account of what occurred on the night of her arrest following an accident at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages.

Carrie Lee Head, 33, who lives in Bison Valley in Oxford, this past week in Sumter County entered a plea of no contest to charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. The reckless driving charge had been reduced from a charge of driving under the influence. Head has been placed on probation for six months, must seek a drug and alcohol evaluation and refrain from the use of alcohol and controlled substances.

Villages-News.com was the first to report the story of Head’s arrest after the Feb. 28 crash, and the story was picked up nationwide due to the titillating details that the blonde was wearing only a bikini and had offered the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash “services” as payment for the damage to his vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Head told the other driver she did not have insurance on the Honda van she was driving. He called 911. She drove away.

However, Head’s attorney, J. Scott Herman, said the offer of “services” never happened.

Herman went back and listened to the 911 recording and found that the other driver never made such a statement. Herman also tracked down the other driver who confirmed that he never made the statement and wasn’t sure how that story had made its way into media accounts.

“My client never offered ‘services’ or anything inappropriate. That term made it into the police report as the result of creative writing by a 911 operator,” Herman said.
