Keep the gates

To the Editor:

The gates serve an extremely important purpose; they allow golf carts to cross an intersection safely. They force a driver to stop until the gate opens which allows a golf cart to safely cross the street. I cannot imagine crossing these roads without gates and I am sure this was the original intention for them. We are a golf cart community and should keep it as safe as possible for our elderly community.
