Letter to the Editor: Villagers frustrated by lack of action on golf cart path safety

To the Editor:

While it would not be a bad idea to have reflectors delineating the center of the multimodal paths, it still behooves users to keep safety and common sense in mind. Carts should run at proper speeds and stay on their side of the path and obey stop and yield signs. Walkers/runners should move single file against motorized traffic close to the edge of the path. Bikers should ride with traffic and obey stop signs. Most of the problems I have observed occur because one or the other group mentioned above think they own the entire width of the path. Costly striping will not solve those problems. However, reflectors placed at strategic locations (curbs, center islands, curves, etc.) would aid during night or low visibility driving.
