Motorcyclist transported to Villages hospital after being rear-ended by 84-year-old driver

An motorcyclist was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital after he was struck from the rear by a vehicle driven by a 84-year-old driver.

James R. Raine of Lady Lake had been stopped at the stoplight at 8:05 a.m. May 8 at County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle driven by Donald D. Carr, also of Lady Lake, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Carr told the officer investigating the crash that he did not see the motorcyclist because of the sun’s glare.

Carr was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
