Powerful storm knocks down 100-year-old Oak tree at golf course

Violent thunderstorms that swept through The Villages late Thursday afternoon knocked down a 100-year-old Oak tree at Oakleigh Executive Golf Course.

The storm, that brought lightning, heavy rain and high winds, toppled the tree at the golf course in the Villages of Chatham and Calumet Grove. Specifically, the downed tree was located at the Par 4  No. 6 hole.

The powerful storm also knocked out power for more than 200 Duke Energy customers in Lady Lake. Most of those customers were in the Water Oak community.
