A Lady Lake woman attempted to blame her sunglasses and her small dog for making her swerve while driving her vehicle on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

Christina Simone Obregon, 24, had been driving at 12:59 p.m. Thursday when her vehicle swerved over the painted lines, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The car was pulled over and a deputy told Obregon that her registration had expired May 10. She told the deputy she had been “trying to get to Orlando” to renew the tag, but had not had the opportunity to do so, the arrest report indicated. When asked about the swerving, Obregon said she had been wearing sunglasses with a dark tint and they interfered with her vision. She had a small dog riding with her and she said the dog sometimes jumps around in the car, forcing her to swerve. She also said he was “in a hurry” because she was going to pick her boyfriend up from jail, the report indicated.

A K-9 alerted on the vehicle and marijuana and pills were discovered.

Obregon was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,000 bond.
