A 39-year-old resident of the Village of Belvedere who was arrested after an alleged attack on an EMT, is hoping to escape prosecution.
An attorney for Roger Shane Gilbert is asking a judge to put her client into a pre-trial intervention program.
Gilbert, who resides on Rosewell Place, had been arrested on a felony charge March 3 in Lake Sumter Landing after allegedly attacking an EMT who had arrived on scene to treat a man. Gilbert interfered with the EMT’s attempt to help the man and even kicked the EMT in the groin, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Gilbert denied the attack, but witnesses backed up the EMT’s account.
Gilbert has been free on bond since his arrest.
He is being represented by attorney Jaimie Washo.
