A Village of Duval woman was arrested after an accident in a roundabout in The Villages.

Multiple Sumter County sheriff’s deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the roundabout of Canal Street and Stillwater Trail.

June Myra Crawford, 74, had been at the wheel of a silver Hyundai which had failed to yield to a gray Toyota, according to an arrest report. An FHP trooper noticed that Crawford had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. She told the trooper she takes medication for sleep apnea.

She failed field sobriety exercises.

After Crawford had been placed in the back of a patrol car, the trooper noticed she was slumped over and appearing as if she was not responsive. When the trooper tried to get Crawford’s attention, it appeared as if she was experiencing pains while pointing to her chest. The trooper called for EMS who assessed her and she was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital. She was released at 3:56 a.m. and she was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where she provided breath samples that registered 0.059 and 0.058 blood alcohol content.

She was booked on $1,000 bond on a charge of driving under the influence.
