CFL Fall 2018 Highlights Week Five

Week Five saw Arden Jewelers retain possession of first place in the Central Florida League.

Arden beat Humana 15-10.

Verne Benson and Mark Hildebrand led Arden with three hits. Maury Fjestad, Jim White, Paul Isenberg, John Charles, Peter Daub, and Terry Baughman each stroked two hits. Baughman drove in three runs with a triple. Pitcher, Gary Lewis, helped his cause with a two run single. Humana got three hits each by Ed Krisha, Bob Roth, and Jim Kitzler. John VanArnhem , David Oatley, and Bud Sheerin each had two hits in the loss.

IHOP won a slug fest over Babiarz Law 21-18.

IHOP got five hits from Cal Driskill and four from Gary Roth. Bill Reed had a three run homer as part of IHOP’s 8 run seventh inning. Mike Bernbach also had a three run homer as one of his three hits on the day. Neil Marple also had three hits. Babiarz got five hits from manager, Bob Winder. Adding three hits each were: Jim Wiegand, Rand Murgittroyd, Rick Murgittroyd, Tom Aldridge, and pitcher, Carlos Lopez. Rick Murgittroyd had a two run over the fence homer, the third of this season.

Paul Davis Restorations rebounded from last week’s loss to Arden by beating Synergy Wealth 12-8.

Paul Davis had three hits by Bob Kelly; and, two each from: Mike Jeffries, Bob Buchanan, George Pugh, John Barracato, Vic Nucatola, and sub, Ron LeBeuf. Synergy Wealth got three hits from Ray Bedford, Gary DePalma, and Tom Latona. Adding two hits each were: Jim Creed, John Kushner, Dale Neff, Rick Fredieu, Bud Ramsey, and, Gary Coleman.

Gators Brownwood continued to win as they defeated American Portfolio Mortgage 11-9.

Ken Atkinson led Gators with three hits. Chris Iorio drove in three runs with a pair of doubles. Rick Murgittroyd, filling in for injured Charlie Clare, drove in two runs with a double as part of a five run fifth inning. American Portfolio Mortgage had three hits from Howard Charney, Marty Berger, and John Leone. Contributing a pair of hits were: Don Melcher, Jim Gipper, and Jim Joseph. Phil Palma and sub, Scott Marshall each had a double in the loss.

Fross & Fross got back on the winning track by besting Palm Ridge Dental 11-4.

Fross had three hits by Manny Sanchez and Jim Morton. Jack Nagle, Vin Stebbins, Bob Holbert, Pat Perkins, and Don Brozick. Brozick had a solo homer in the third. Palm Ridge got three hits from Conrad Strassle. Don Winstead, Bob Shortt, and Roy Warter had two hits. Scott King led off the fifth inning with a triple and scored on a single by Shortt. George Loew drove in a run with a double in the fourth.
