Villages resident forfeits bond after failure to show up to answer to drug charges

Monica Michelle Rhoades

A Villages resident has forfeited bond after her failure to show up in court to answer to drug charges.

Monica Michelle Rhoades, 41, who lists an address on Figuero Street in the Village of Santiago, was arrested early Monday morning by Leesburg police on multiple Lake County warrants for failure to show up in court. As a result, her previous bond was forfeited. This time she was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.

She originally had been arrested May 13 at the Lee Motel in Leesburg. She had been asked to leave Room 8, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. She was sitting on the bed, upset and crying, and claimed her boyfriend would be back to pay for another night. A check showed she was wanted on a Sumter County warrant charging her with fraud.

In the hotel room, there were syringes, marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia contained within drawers, a nightstand and blue Winn-Dixie shopping bag. She was taken into custody and released the following day after posting $8,000 bond.
