William ‘Bill’ Eugene Settle

William “Bill” Eugene Settle, age 83 passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in Leesburg, Florida. Bill was born in Bengal, Indiana and moved to the Leesburg area in 1988 from Maitland, Florida. He spent more than forty years in the insurance business and was the owner of Budget Insurance Offices Incorporated in Leesburg. Those close to Bill remember him as generous, compassionate, and noble but most of all as a devoted and sincere Christian. Bill loved cars and had a passion for work. During his younger years he raced hydroplane boats and was a four time world champion (1958, 1959, 1961, and 1962) even setting a world speed record for hydroplane boats in 1961. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Pat; Sons – Bartley (Ada) Settle and Jared Settle both of Leesburg; Daughter – Beth Brown of Leesburg; 3 Brothers – James Settle of Columbus, Indiana; Donald Settle of Hope, Indiana; and Charles Settle of Columbus, Indiana; 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 1, 2016 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Page-Theus Funeral Home, Downtown Leesburg. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Elliott serving as Officiant.
