Dorothy Diane Gamble

Dorothy Diane Gamble, 73, of The Villages, FL, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Munroe Regional Medical Hospital, Ocala, Florida after a lengthy battle with respiratory and cardiac problems. Her husband, Robert, was by her side. She resided in Henderson Harbor, NY and The Villages, FL.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. A memorial service will be held in Henderson Harbor, NY at a date to be announced later.

Born November 22, 1942 in Rochester, NY, Diane was the daughter of the late Evelyn and George Henchen of Rochester and Henderson Harbor. She graduated from Nazareth Academy, Rochester in 1961 and earned an Associate, Bachelor and Master Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. She married Robert Gamble Aug. 21, 1965 in Sackets Harbor. They lived in Henderson Harbor, NY and spent winters in The Villages, FL.

She worked in the computer field for Mixing Equipment Company, Rochester, Craig Systems, Watertown, NY and Mercy Hospital, Watertown. Diane was also the third generation to own and run Henchen Marina and Fishing Camp, Henderson Harbor for many years along with her husband. Later she also worked part-time for Target Corporation, both in Watertown and Lady Lake, FL., as well as Thousand Islands Bait Store, Alexandria Bay.

Diane was always active in community organizations, such as the Henderson Garden Club, the Henderson Harbor Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson County Fish Advisory Board. She deeply cared about the communities she lived in and had a wide circle of friends in both places.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, a son, Scott Gamble and his fiancée Kristi David, Adams, two grandchildren, Sydnee Gamble and Deegan Gamble, Theresa, NY, a sister Carol (Gene) Hankey, two brothers, Robert Henchen (Judy), Henderson Harbor, David M. Henchen, Rochester. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Diane was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and George Henchen.
