Douglas Vernon Rage

Douglas Vernon Rage, 74, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2016, surrounded by his wife and three children. Born on March 14, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Douglas was the son of the late Glennis Martini and Vernon Rage and the oldest of two siblings. On September 21, 1968, he married Carole Lynn Palmer.
Doug served in the U.S. Air Force as a personnel specialist during the 1960s, stationed in France. After his discharge, he attended and graduated from DePaul University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce.
After receiving his degree, Doug was employed by Automatic Data Processing (ADP) for the entirety of his career, starting as a nighttime payroll clerk, and progressing to Vice President, Operations over the course of 33 years, retiring in 2003. Doug was a quiet man of faith and enjoyed serving on the church council at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Eagan, MN. He also enjoyed volunteer work, driving for Scott County, MN as a courtesy driver for elderly and other in-need individuals.
His passions included his family, long distance biking and bowling. His accomplishments in biking include thousands of miles ridden across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Colorado as well as a 2000 mile summer. As a bowler, he lettered at DePaul University and had a perfect 300 game during the years he spent with friends and family playing in various leagues. Doug was an avid Vikings fan, regardless of his upbringing in Chicago or their record, he rarely missed watching a game. He also enjoyed playing any card game people were willing to play, encouraging his competitive nature. He was quick with practical jokes and witty comebacks, keeping his family and friends on their toes and amused.
Doug is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carole Rage of The Villages, FL; his son, Mark Rage of Woodbury, MN; son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Carol Rage of Cottage Grove, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Aaron Dehne of Louisville, CO. He is also survived by four adoring grandchildren, Emma (16) and Aidan (13) Rage of Cottage Grove, MN and Avery (10) and Mason (8) Dehne of Louisville, CO; as well as his sister and brother in-law Pat and Louis Johnson of The Villages, FL.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for early summer of 2017 in the Twin Cities area, where Doug spent 40 years of his life before moving to Florida 15 months ago. Details related to this celebration to be made available at a later date.
