Iconic tree disappears from golf course in The Villages

It’s a sad day for this photographer.

A Villages icon is gone.

This icon is probably only second to our beautiful lighthouse. I bet most people couldn’t drive down County Road 466 without glancing over at it, or play Laurel Valley golf course without checking its bare branches for a beautiful Eagle or Osprey. This was a favorite place for those beautiful birds to consume their catch from local ponds.

It was so beautiful, yet so mysterious.

The sun sets behind the well-known tree in The Villages.

I have watched many sunrises come up behind this beautiful icon, and many sun, and moons set behind it. I for one am going to miss it a lot. I probably will still look over when driving down County Road 466, to only see open space, and drive up to where it was in my golf cart when I play Laurel Valley and just sit with sadness for a moment.

I will miss our tree.
