Local hospitals recognized for Workplace Health Achievement

Local hospitals were recognized this past week for Workplace Health Achievement.

The 2017 results of the American Heart Association Workplace Health Achievement Index were announced this week and Central Florida Health received the Gold Award. Central Florida Health received the reward for their efforts of making significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital, according to a news release. The Workplace Heath Achievement Index was created by the AHA and its CEO Roundtable members, using science-based best practices to evaluate overall quality and comprehensiveness of their workplace health programs.

“It is an honor to receive this award,” stated Juli Romero-Gomez ,RN, Coordinator of “Health You, Healthy Us” Wellness Program at CFH.  “It is a true testament to all of the hard work and healthy changes being made individually and system-wide. We look forward to a continued successful relationship with the American Heart Association and to implementing changes that support a culture of great health and well-being for our team members and community,” Romero-Gomez later stated in the news release.

The AHA’s Workplace Health Achievement Index allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs while providing a guide for future areas of growth and development.
