Richard Damian Halligan

Richard Damian Halligan, age 54 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Sumterville, Florida. Richard was born in Summerville, New Jersey and was the son of John & Barbara Halligan. He moved to the Clermont and Sumter County areas over 30 years ago from Ft. Pierce, Florida. He was in the hospitality industry for most of his life and was the former owner operator of several liquor stores and bars including “The Other Place” bar and liquor store in Leesburg for 10 years. He followed up those years with work in real estate at Century 21. Most recently, he was a server at Cody’s Roadhouse. He was a 1977 graduate of Ft. Pierce High School and an avid Notre-Dame, and NFL football fan. He will be remembered by those closest to him for his kind, funny and outgoing personality. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John & Barbara and by his brothers, Thomas and Kevin Halligan. Survivors include his sons John and Jordan Halligan of Wildwood, Florida; a brother – Kenneth (Kathy) Halligan of Maryville, TN; a sister – Linda (Bryon) Conley of Portland, Oregon, sister-in-law Debbye Halligan of Ocala; nieces and nephews – Amanda & Colin Halligan, Shannon Halligan, Chiara & Adrian Conley; and close friends Scott (Moe) and Kelly. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to: Cornerstone Hospice – 2445 Lane Parkway, Tavares, FL 32778
