Two people transported by ambulance from scene of early-morning collision on U.S. 301

Two people were transported by ambulance to Leesburg Regional Medical Center after a collision Thursday morning on U.S. 301.

A truck pulling a trailer had been heading south at about 7 a.m. when it turned east onto County Road 462 in front of a car traveling north on U.S. 301, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The car collided with the trailer.

Two people in the car were transported to LRMC. The driver in the truck was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
