Villages wins permission for annexation of homes on Historic Side

Villages wins permission for annexation of homes on Historic Side
This lot at 913 Cindy Ave. was approved for annexation Monday by the Planning and Zoning Committee.

The Villages has won permission to annex 11 homes into the Town of Lady Lake.

Marty Dzuro of The Villages made his case to the town’s Planning and Zoning Board on Monday evening.

“The Villages has gone in and is purchasing those homes that people want to sell. The Villages is taking out manufactured homes and putting in site-built homes,” Dzuro said.

The Villages has already purchased 40 to 50 homes, Dzuro said.

Years ago, residents of The Villages’ section of Lady Lake were given the choice of whether to annex into Lady Lake. Those who didn’t annex in, remained part of Lake County. However, those homeowners still receive services such as police and fire protection even though they don’t pay taxes to Lady Lake.

This home at 1011 Aloha Way was approved for annexation by the Planning and Zoning Board.

The “enclaves” include more than 700 homes in The Villages’ section of Lady Lake/Lake County.

The Villages had previously expressed a desire to see the new homes it is building on the Historic Side to be annexed into Lady Lake.

The Villages has indicated it would prefer to obtain permits through the town rather than Lake County.

Homes approved Monday for annexation were:

1011 Aloha Way

806 Beechwood Ave.

913 Cindy Drive

104 Nell Way

1015 Nell Way

1321 Paradise Drive

918 Tarrson Blvd.

1316 Teakwood Lane

704 Truman Ave.

819 Truman Ave.

1028 Vermont Way

The Planning and Zoning Board approved the proposed annexations. Final approval on the annexation will be up for approval in September by the Lady Lake Commission. The 11 homes will appear on the Lady Lake tax rolls if the commission gives annexation final approval.
