William R. Anthony

William R. Anthony, of The Villages, FL, born on September 24th, 1924 in Erie, Pa to Charles Anthony and Martha Hirsch, passed away at his home in The Village of Duval surrounded by family members after a brief illness Thursday July 15 2015. A 1942 graduate of Harborcreek H.S., Bill was an insurance agent with Prudential and retired after 34 years of dedicated, caring service. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII as a Clerk typist in England. He was dedicated husband, father, and an avid golfer, who could still poke it out near 200 yards and active in several social activities including bocce, pinochle, served as Treasurer of the Erie Club in the Villages and was a member of the American Legion (Lady Lake). Bill and his wife Joyce began to visit The Villages back in 1992 starting out with 3 month visits, then increasing their frequency to 6 months in 2002 before eventually calling The Village of Duval their permanent residence in 2009. He is survived by Joyce(Prescott), his wife of 69 years, 5 sons William David(The Villages), Paul(Erie, PA) Mark(San Diego, CA), Jeffery(Jupiter, FL), and Patrick(Clarence, NY).Daughter’s-in-law Darlene (Erie), Debra (San Diego) and Stacey(Clarence), 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his siblings Charles (Dorothy) Anthony, Frank (Catherine) Connelly Edward (Mary) Tuzynski, Gerald (Mildred) Anthony, and his twin brother Joseph (Bonnie) Anthony.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, The Villages, FL on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to a charity of your choosing in his name.
