SUMMERHILL SINKS DUVAL IN EXTRA INNING;

MUHA , BOETTCHER, & JOHNSTON LEAD WAY

 

Duval (1-1) took an early 6-2 lead against Summerhill (1-1) in this Central Division Neighborhood league contest.  But Summerhill Seniors held the Duval Dukes scoreless for the last four innings with some sparkling defense and forced an extra frame at six all.  The visiting Seniors’ bats exploded for seven hits and seven runs and the 13-8 win.

Mark Muha mauled three hits including a three run homer; Jerry Boettcher belted two hits with two rbi’s; and Wayne Johnston jacked three hits for Summerhill’s winning pitcher John Blodgett.  Wayne Johnston and Jerry Boettcher initiated sizzling double plays, Otto Wentling had a great defensive play at shortfield, and pitcher John Blodgett made two very crucial infield hustle popup catches.

Joe Capelli had a leadoff triple in the first inning, and Larry White had two hits and a ribbie for the Dukes.
