TVRH to host event for cancer survivors Wednesday at Waterfront Inn

The Villages Regional Hospital will host an event celebrating cancer survivorship and offering support to those still battling the disease. The event is also designed to identify resources available to anyone who has beaten the disease and is interested in enhancing their quality of life after doing so.

“After a brief presentation celebrating survivorship and highlighting a number of resources available to survivors, participants will be invited to visit with representatives from Support Services, Nutrition Information and Spiritual Care” said Elizabeth Jernigan, Cancer Center Administrator for the Moffitt Cancer Center at The Villages Regional Hospital. “Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with the Cancer Center’s nurse navigator, participate in cancer rehab screenings and receive a free lung cancer screening.”

The event, titled “Surviving and Thriving: Beating Cancer and Living Your Best,” will be held at the Waterfront Inn on Jan. 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. Seating is limited, refreshments will be served and registration is required by calling (352) 751-8585.

“Our goal is to show the community that beating cancer is more probable than ever before and highlight the continuum of care they have right here that can take them from detection, through treatment and on to living their best,” says Jernigan.
