Carson Scott Sellars, 17, of Leesburg, had been at the wheel of a GMC Sierra that was eastbound on CR466A. His vehicle struck the rear of an unoccupied ValleyCrest landscaping truck, the FHP report indicated. Meanwhile, Virginia Dell Patrick-Downs, 60, of Wildwood, in a 2015 Toyota Corolla, had tried to change lanes to avoid the crash but wound up hitting the rear-end of Howlett’s vehicle.

The crew had put out orange cones on the road, the report indicated.

Sellars and a passenger, 16-year-old Coby Allen McClellan of Wildwood, were both transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital. Howlett was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

Sellars was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
