Villager arrested after allegedly attacking woman in the Village of Ashland

A 70-year-old Villager was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly attacking a woman at a home in the Village of Ashland.

George Jerry Ceranowski was booked without bond on a charge of battery at the Sumter County Detention Center.

The woman was able to break free and get outside of a home on Ellison Place and contact law enforcement. He had gotten “frustrated” with her and swung his hands at her, but did not make contact. Ceranowski admitted to the deputy he had broken her glasses.
