Thank you Villagers for making pajama and book drive a big success

Mikki Blumberg

Thank you Villagers, Resident Life Style Officials, all Villages Recreational Centers for your continued dedication to the Pajama & Book Drive, the major service project of The Villages Girl Scout Alumnae Silver Trefoils who remain dedicated to the purpose of staying connected with the homeless children living in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties.

It’s very difficult to express the difference a new pair of pajamas and a book can mean in the life of a child. These items are small enough that a child can keep them in a backpack when mobility becomes a necessity. These small items give these children a sense of hope and empowerment like no other.

The United States government defines homelessness as not having a permanent night time address, but it doesn’t describe the sense of loss of dignity and the loss of feeling normal.

Our remarkable community contributes in remarkable ways. Villagers you’re great It’s really as simple as that!

Total pajamas collected- 6,590 and still counting.

Total books collected – 3,690

Ownership of pajamas and books may seem small to those who have them, but they make a wonderful Christmas gift to a child who owns neither. We hope you can join the Silver Trefoils Girl Scouts for another year of improving children’s lives. If they could, each child would share with you the joy your gift gives throughout the year.

Mikki Blumberg is with the The Villages Girl Scout Alumnae Silver Trefoils and heads the annual pajama and book drive.
