Thank you to four special women

To the Editor:

On Tuesday, May 16, my husband and I were doing some yard work and trying to hang reflective tape to chase away the many Grackles in our trees and yard. While getting ready to hang the last high level tape, my husband was about seven feet up when his foot slipped on the ladder. The ladder came crashing down away from the tree and my husband came down on top of it, landing on his back. As I asked him if he was OK, and recognizing he had a broken shoulder, my voice must have carried out to the golf course on which we live. All of a sudden, four women came running from the tee box and asked what they could do. One called 911, two others helped me get my husband somewhat stabilized, and another went to the front of the house to wait for the ambulance. As they watched over my husband, I ran into the house to get a blanket and supplies to take to the hospital. By that time, some of our wonderful neighbors came to help as well. We want to thank our neighbors and these women for caring enough to check on what was going on and for the unsolicited help they gave during this incident. Thank you, ladies! You went beyond the call of duty, and had you not come to our assistance, I’m not sure what would have happened. You helped keep us both calm and able do what was necessary to get my husband safely to the hospital. You are true angels!
