A driver who rolled through a stop sign was arrested along with his passenger Thursday morning by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.
Robert J. Lynch, 40, of Oxford, was driving a four-door Saturn at 8:30 a.m. when he rolled through a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 103 and County Road 102, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy discovered that Lynch’s driver’s license had been suspended March 20 due to delinquent child support. He said he did not know his license had been suspended.
A K-9 unit arrived on the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs.
A passenger in the car, 27-year-old Shawna Rae Goddard of Oxford, was found to be in possession of a digital scale, Ziploc bags and straws which tested positive for traces of methamphetamine. She was arrested on a charge of possession of drug equipment and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
Lynch was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended. He was booked at the jail and released after posting $500 bond.
