Michael Louis Brooks

Michael Louis Brooks, 85, of The Villages, FL, went home to join the Lord on Thursday, August, 24, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he moved from Succasunna, NJ to The Villages in 1994.

Michael served as a combat infantryman in the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds, the Combat infantry Badge and the Bronze Star with Valor. He was a life member of the following Lady Lake organizations American Legion Post 347, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 795, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 150. He was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8083 Belleview and life member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association. He was a member of Saint Timothy Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 10034.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Margie), The Villages; son, Michael L. Brooks, Wharton, NJ, Keith V. Brooks and granddaughter, Jessica Louise, Pocono Heights, PA and son, Todd C. Brooks and granddaughters, Rebecca Lynn and Margaret Rochelle, Summerfield, FL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Saint Timothy Catholic Church with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 347. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sumter County Animal Control and Shelter, 823 County Road 529, Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538.
