Wildwood still without power, food trashed at Pinellas Plaza

The City of Wildwood is still without power.

In addition to misery for residents, the aftermath of Hurricane Irma is taking a toll on business.

Thousands of pounds of food were being trashed Tuesday morning at the Winn-Dixie at Pinellas Plaza. The staff indicated that after the power went out, their backup generator ran out of fuel. The store has a relationship with a local food bank that picks up five days a week, but was unable to salvage the food because of the conditions.

City offices are closed.

It is not known when power will be restored.
