Special magistrate approves latest addition to Trailwinds Village on County Road 466A

An office for VyStar Credit Union is the latest addition to Trailwinds Village on the north side of County Road 466A east of Pinellas Plaza.

Special Magistrate Grant Watson recommended approval of a site plan for the 4,000-square-foot building at a meeting Tuesday of the Wildwood Planning and Zoning Board. It will be located along the county road toward the eastern end of the property. Watson’s recommendation is subject to approval of the Wildwood City Commission.

The largest credit union in northeast Florida, VyStar has more than 20 offices in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Gainesville and other cities. With assets of $6.8 billion, it serves 560,000 members in 22 Florida counties.

The credit union was founded 65 years ago as Jax Navy Federal to serve civil service members, military employees and their families at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville.

Trailwinds Village also includes a 103,000-square-foot Lowe’s Home improvement Center and an Aldi grocery store, both under construction. It also will feature an ABC Liquor store and a Circle K gas station.

The property has space for two more anchor stores and smaller retail stores along CR 466A. Ten small office buildings and a three-story, 247,000-square-foot storage building are planned for the west end of the property.

Watson also recommended a zoning change for property along U.S. 301 about a half mile north of County Road 462 east where an office for All Around Aluminum is planned.

He recommended approval of a 250-foot cellular tower on property owned by T & D Concrete in the South Wildwood Industrial Park and a site plan for a 7,453-square-foot O’Reilly Auto Parts Store on U.S. 301 about a half mile north of State Road 44.
