A man and woman were injured when a tire separated on the vehicle in which they were traveling on Interstate 75 in Marion County.
Carrie James, 34, had been at the wheel of a 2001 Mercury Marquis at 3:45 p.m. Saturday when the right rear tire separated, causing her to lose control, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The car overturned and struck a wire fence.
She suffered serious injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. A passenger, 42-year-old Michael James, was critically injured and was also transported to ORMC. He had not been wearing a seatbelt, the report noted.
