Central Florida Book & Author Expo set this weekend at Eisenhower Recreation Center

The Central Florida Book & Author Expo will take place on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eisenhower Recreation Center. The Expo will feature 80 authors from all over Florida including many from The Villages.

Authors representing many genres including children’s books will be on hand to sign and discuss their work. Books are available for purchase. New this year is a food vendor. So those that want to make a day of it can purchase lunch at the Expo.

Children’s authors Mark Newhouse, Susan Golder and Sharon Solomon.

“There will be books for all ages and interests written by your neighbors and friends. Clubs and organizations will find authors eager to speak to their members. Parents will be sharing their love of reading with their children who may win great prizes, as well as be inspired to read and write,” said Mark Newhouse, organizer of the Expo. “People who dream of writing their own books will be able to talk to friends and neighbors who have accomplished that goal. It’s just educational and fun.”

Newhouse is excited about the location of the Expo.

“The Eisenhower Recreation Center is an awesome experience in itself. Every time I go there, I can’t help but be impressed and feel great pride in our nation and its heroes.  Many of our authors are military veterans, male and female, and have written about their experiences. It is an honor to be able to host this cultural event in such an amazing building,” he said.

The Expo, sponsored by the Writers League of The Villages and Villages Recreation & Parks Department, is open to the public. Admission is free. The Eisenhower Recreation Center is located at 3560 Buena Vista Blvd.
