California woman arrested after crash at Odell Circle and Dunkirk Trail

A California woman was arrested after an automobile crash Wednesday evening at Odell Circle and Dunkirk Trail in The Villages.

Susan Backlinie Swindell, 71, of Ventura, Calif., had been at the wheel of a car involved in the single-vehicle accident at 6:27 p.m., according to an accident report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

It appeared she had been drinking.

She failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .195 and .200 blood alcohol content.

She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
