A climate change update from the Whitehouse Weather Wing and your award-winning, government-trained meteorologist:
Remember that astonishing claim from Barack Hussein Obama II during his 2015 State of the Union address, where he said, “No challenge – no challenge – poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change”?
But before that whopper, let’s also remember some of his other fantastic claims, such as his promise to cut the deficit by 50 percent or his repeated claim that we could keep our doctors. And then there was that infamous “red line” in Syria. I think we can all agree that it doesn’t take a trained meteorologist to validate (or un-validate) those claims.
And about that changing climate … it’s been changing for the last 4.5 billion years – and it’ll keep changing. Even the famous Greek philosopher, Heraclitus, knew this when he said, “The only thing that is constant is change.”
So, Obama was a bit short-sighted with that “climate change” line, when instead, it is life itself that’s the challenge. Mother Teresa so eloquently stated this in her poem, “Life is a Challenge.”
For those in Hawaii, the challenge is moving faster than the lava flows. When the next ice age starts, the challenge will be to move south faster than the glaciers flow. Just be glad we already live far south.
However, for those of us who voluntarily choose to live in hurricane-prone regions, we must be prepared for the challenges of tropical weather. But don’t include the government as part of your preparedness plan. If all else fails, the government may be there to help – or maybe not.
Remember Katrina and Sandy? You are in charge of your destiny. You’ve made it this far because of your determination and perseverance. Don’t stop now. Plan now, party later.
And like that popular Canadian philosopher Red Green always says, “Remember, I’m pulling for ya. We’re all in this together!”
