Police notified of case of fraud at MVP Athletic Club in The Villages

Police were notified of a case of fraud at MVP Athletic Club in The Villages.

The director of the MVP location at Spanish Springs Town Square said she had received an email from her finance manager on Tuesday indicating that someone attempted to cash six fraudulent checks on Sept. 7 using an electronic mobile direct deposit, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The checks had the MVP headquarters’ address on Maitland Summit Boulevard in Orlando, however the actual routing and account numbers on all six checks, which totaled $1,259.60, were linked to MVP in The Villages.

Fifth Third Bank was able to intercept the transactions and stop all checks from going through, the report indicated.
